Some of my Experiences as a Homeowner
This is an ongoing report of my experiences doing maintenance and dealing with some adversity around the home. My experiences are not unique, in fact the universality of what every homeowner must face is why I decided to make this journal. We all buy a house with dreams and aspirations for our family and our financial investments. Very soon we become aware that everything requires repair and maintenance, be it landscaping, paint, roof, etc. Everything begins to deteriorate from the day it is created. I've taken photos of some of my bigger projects and I'm posting them here with captions as part of a contribution to an invisible support group, other homeowners. Some of this is therapy with the intent of creating empathy and humor regarding our shared experiences.

Hiring a Professional Fence Contractor

As explained on the previous page, after much investigation we decided it was prudent to hire a professional. This page is a photo report of the various steps that took place before our eyes within about a week. This was definitely the right thing to do. And we believe that we hired the best.
Removing the old fence was the first requirement.
Precision post holes, the perfect distance apart and in alignment, were next. Ample cement was mixed and used to set each post in place.
Once the cement is set, a few days later, horizontal rails and gate framing are started. This is going to be a "T" shaped fence between two homes, two gates.
In this photo the horizontal rails are mounted and ready to receive the vertical cedar pickets.
Attaching the cedar pickets is a rather precise task, giving the fence a finished look. Inferior pickets are discarded during this process.
Installing the gates and latches completed the job. So, by hiring a pro we got a super job in a matter of days. I have no idea how long it would have taken us amateurs, but I certainly know we wouldn't have done this good of a job. We recommend hiring a professional!
