Some of my Experiences as a Homeowner
This is an ongoing report of my experiences doing maintenance and dealing with some adversity around the home. My experiences are not unique, in fact the universality of what every homeowner must face is why I decided to make this journal. We all buy a house with dreams and aspirations for our family and our financial investments. Very soon we become aware that everything requires repair and maintenance, be it landscaping, paint, roof, etc. Everything begins to deteriorate from the day it is created. I've taken photos of some of my bigger projects and I'm posting them here with captions as part of a contribution to an invisible support group, other homeowners. Some of this is therapy with the intent of creating empathy and humor regarding our shared experiences.

The City's Effort - Flooding 2005 !!!

The first 24 hours of this event was just wet. The very brief warm weather front kept everything above freezing... until January 2nd.
Now everything is ice. The only good news, water flow has dropped. Frozen.

Frozen Remains. Mid-day water runs where it can.
The following summer, when it was all just a memory, the city did send out equipment to clean up the dirt canal. Mostly appeasement for the unhappy citizens who complained, no real engineered solution.
IT IS ALL GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN !!!
Over the first weekend in November 2008 the city installed this cement trough in Fir Street, as an effort to help the flood waters flow better. Based on the photos above, do you believe that this will make a difference? There is still no engineered accommodation for that amount of water volume.
