Some of my Experiences as a Homeowner
This is an ongoing report of my experiences doing maintenance and dealing with some adversity around the home. My experiences are not unique, in fact the universality of what every homeowner must face is why I decided to make this journal. We all buy a house with dreams and aspirations for our family and our financial investments. Very soon we become aware that everything requires repair and maintenance, be it landscaping, paint, roof, etc. Everything begins to deteriorate from the day it is created. I've taken photos of some of my bigger projects and I'm posting them here with captions as part of a contribution to an invisible support group, other homeowners. Some of this is therapy with the intent of creating empathy and humor regarding our shared experiences.

Rain, then SNOW... TROUBLE !!! Happy New Year !!!

The first 24 hours of this event was just wet. The very brief warm weather front kept everything above freezing... until January 2nd.
The people in this neighborhood awoke to a heavy winter snow and very cold temperatures. Trees were broken, some falling on homes. The flood was now an ice event, far more damaging in potential.
By mid-morning the city brought in heavy equipment to help clear streets.
Back yards were now a combination of snow, ice, flood water and efforts to dig drains and lay sand bags. Flood water touched most local home foundations.
As freezing ensued, the city had to close several streets for public safety.
The entire neighborhood is flooded, including nearly every back yard. All anyone could do was just watch and consider preventative measures for the future.
The city streets were impassable. Heavy equipment was used to clear huge blocks of snow and ice from the main street. It took months for the ice birm to melt.
