March 10, 2009... Dr. Andrew Weil told a U.S. Senate committee last month, “… we do not have a ‘health care’ system at all. Instead we have a disease management system that is deeply dysfunctional and getting more so by the day."

Every person dealing with a major disease sooner or later becomes aware that success is directly related to the level at which the patient takes an interest in the outcome. Mr. Thomas received his cancer diagnosis in the year 2000 and immediately set out to be involved in his therapy. His still being alive symptom free is testament that something is right about this. This is one of his reports from his journal of self healing. JV - webmaster.

Inversion Therapy

This is an article about the benefits of inversion therapy, no impact exercising on an inversion table, by JHThomas

benefitsart

The idea of inversion therapy comes easily to me, partially because of my time in practicing Hatha Yoga when I was younger. This eastern discipline is filled with various inversion positions, with the same intention, including the full headstand. Now, as I'm older, I hear more information about varicose veins, lymphedema causing swollen legs, etc. My health care providers all suggest that I spend time with my legs resting above my heart, to "drain" them. Must be good for me. In short this means that gravity in time has a detrimental effect on bodily systems, especially where fluids are concerned.

In my case, thanks to an injury when I was 23, I have lumbar stenosis. This flares up now and then becoming a condition known as cauda equina. The symptoms from this mimic metastatic prostate cancer, giving me sufficient anxiety to seek knowledge and relief, so I know which one I have. So my research into another natural healing modality began.

I learned that many enlightened doctors recommend inversion therapy as a way to reduce pressure on spinal discs, ligaments, and nerve roots while increasing blood circulation, strengthening the back, and elongating the spine. Inversion can also help counteract the effects of everyday stresses that contribute to a stiff, sore back and neck. Studies show that muscle tension declines 35% within ten seconds of inversion, and that inverting as little as 25 degrees for even a few minutes a day can help relax tense muscles.

This was enough evidence for me. I purchased one of the best inversion tables I could find. This is my journal of receiving it and my endorsement for those with similar interests.

teetership

My Teeter Inversion Table arrived intact, well packed inside a large carton, by UPS, about five days after I placed my order online.

I can report from my own experience that this product is extremely well made and it is accompanied by thorough instructional and assembly materials. In fact, I'd say that the DVD video is worth the purchase price. Best advice... sit down and view this from beginning to end before doing anything.

Then, unpack and take inventory. I replayed the DVD portion that shows you how to assemble the table, pausing and doing as I went. It was a pleasure to discover the precision of manufacturing, everything fit easily, tight and obvious.

"Which Inversion Table is the best?"

"The One You Use!"

Inversion therapy is best known as a way to achieve relief from back pain, however it is also a good way to reverse other negative effects that gravity has on the body. Over time, gravity can contribute to problems with your circulation, height compression, prolapsed organs and general body functions. Inversion can be used as a self directed approach to help maintain overall health. Hanging upside down helps to stretch and relax muscles, reduce stress and tension, and provide healthy movement for ligaments.

Inversion is actually a natural form of traction that uses your body's weight in combination with gravity to decompress weight-bearing joints. While the body is rotated and suspended, gravity’s force applies traction, resulting in a relaxed stretch that elongates the spine, increasing the space between the vertebrae; this relieves the pressure on discs and nerve roots. Less pressure means less back pain. Since every nerve root leaves the spine through a space between the vertebrae, the result of inversion means that your body is more likely to be free from pain. Inversion offers a system of stretching and exercise that helps to slow or reverse the harmful compression of the body by gravity. This is one more in-home solution to self repair and maintenance.

trampolines

This is an article about the virtues of rebounding, exercising on a mini trampoline.

by John Vroom, webmaster

Whether you've been diagnosed with a disease already or you're still in good health, it is a maxim of self-healing mentors like Dr. Richard Schulze that "If you rest you rust!" Yet some of us, either because of age or inconvenience find it difficult to put on jogging clothes and go outdoors for a long run. We know the benefits, we all have the brochure from our doctor, given to us durung our last annual check up. Enter the life saving rebounder!

The first and most obvious benefit of course is that this device, masquerading in your home as a child's toy, is seductive and it simply invites you to get off your butt and bounce, even a little. From there the list of actual health benefits is extraordinary. The most intriguing thing about this solution is that it is totally enjoyable while gravity and the physics of being weightless for even a split second do wonderous things to our internal health. Rebounders offer convenient, low impact aerobic exercise, well known for using the forces of acceleration, deceleration and gravity.

For example: This aerobic exercise gives the user a new sense of balance and self control. The result is an improved self image, which is an immune system support in and of itself. A smile of self accomplishment seems subtle but what benefits! There is evidence that bouncing slows down atrophy in the aging process. The increase in G-Force (gravitational load) strengthens the musculoskeletel systems, while protecting the joints from chronic fatigue which occurs when exercising on hard surfaces. Production of red blood cells in the bone marrow is increased. Promotes tissue repair. Osteoporosis is resisted. Provides relief for chronic sufferers of neck, shoulder and back pain. All of this improves the alkalinity of a person's ph, fighting off sickness. Digestion and elimination are enhanced. Constipation is generally flushed and eliminated by this internal movement as a result of even gentle bouncing.

The affect on the cardiac system alone is incredible. The aerobic activity increases respiration and the capacity for respiration, bringing more oxygen to the tissues, a must for the prevention of cancer. Helps lower blood pressure by reducing the height during exertion where blood pressure rises. Helps rehabilitate any heart problem. Decreases the volume of blood pooling in the veins of the cardiovascular system, preventing chronic edema. Increases the capillary count in muscles. Strengthens the heart and all other muscles in the body. The resting heart will beat less often. A byproduct of all of this is an improvement in LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, making the "good" better and the "bad" less.

The lymph system is often called the "white blood" system as it is just as competent and thorough as the red blood system. Wherever there is a capillary, an exchange of bloof energy, there is a lymph receptical eager to pull off wasted toxins. If this part of the microsopic plumbing isn't working trouble begins, and the lymph system lacks a heart (pump). It is dependant upon movement and deep breathing to function. Clogging of this delicate system is often the beginning of infections, etc. Here, the rebounder shines in terms of effectiveness. One thing it does best is to pump the lymph system, activating millions of small one-way valves in this intricate system that otherwise are often left dormant with fluids building up and causing health problems with too many names to list here.

Obscure and left out of most of the literature about rebounding benefits are the health benefits from the subtle currents we all have in our wonderous bodies. In a book by lymphologist Samuel West is a lengthy explanation of the subtle bio-electricity that developed within the body as a result of the vertical movement in space, while we are bouncing. This magnetic gravity, so to speak, is activated in our nervous system and becomes concentrated in our solar plexis while bouncing. Dr. West claims all kinds of healing as a result of focusing this energy build up, which I will leave to you the reader to evaluate. But it does demonstrate that more is going on than we first observe from simple bouncing.
